Have you ever attended a play, either on Broadway or your local community theater, and wondered: 'where does this come from?' In this Comet Talk, CCC's Dr. Matthew J. Hernando will trace the origins of modern theater from its earliest stirrings in Ancient Greece through a key transition period occurring in the 16th and 17th centuries when "the theater," as we know it today, began to emerge simultaneously in two very different societies: Elizabethan England and Tokugawa Japan.
